Alternative Surfaces
Aquabord.
Um, no.
Why didn't anyone tell me that if you are someone who is fond of glazing [and glazing and glazing and glazing] that Ampersand Aquabord might not be the surface for you?
I'm sure someone has complained about this somewhere along the line, but it definitely didn't come up in any of the forum posts I read while looking for feedback about alternative surfaces for watercolor. Wow, this stuff is NOT my cup of tea. Pity I bought a 4-pack ;) but at least they're only 6x6. I should be able to dispense of them quickly.
Am I missing some kind of special technique that might prevent one from (constantly) accidentally lifting back to white when trying to apply a glaze? This whole Aquabord experience is proving to be just maddening for me. I was able to knock out "Wizard" in a couple hours, largely because it's a pretty simple subject, but I'm painting hydrangeas in a wood crate right now and the relentless lifting accidents are forcing me to rework areas over and over again. What should have taken me a day or two has dragged out for weeks (ok, I might also be procrastinating just a touch, but the Aquabord sure isn't helping).

What do you think? Are you a fan of this stuff? How does it compare to other non-paper substrates?
